Biography
WATERTOWN –Robert Wells Lowell, 90, of Hamilton Avenue, died Friday, May 25, 2012, at Waterbury Hospital. He was the husband of Nancy (Long) Lowell.
Mr. Lowell was born in Waterbury, April 2, 1922, son of the late Walter and Aletha (Wells) Lowell. He was raised in Waterbury and was a graduate of Crosby High School and Yale. He served in the Navy during WW II and the Korean Conflict and was a resident of Watertown for over 50 years. Prior to his retirement, he was a marketing engineer at Bristol Babcock. He was a member of First Congregational Church, the Watertown Rotary Club, and Masonic Lodge #17 A.F. & A.M. He also had his private pilot’s license.
Besides his wife of 47 years, he leaves a son, Mark Lowell and his partner, Susan Schultz, of Florida; a daughter, Jane Radl and her husband, David, of Bristol; three step-sons, Calvin A. Borg and his wife, Doreen, of Thomaston, James “Dana” Borg and his wife, Janice, of Vermont and Christian Borg and his fiancé, Mary LaBranche, of Vermont; two step-daughters, Catherine Krantz and her husband, Paul, of Watertown and Nancy Borg and her fiancé, Paul Suhadolc, of Vermont; a son-in-law, David Redente; a brother, Walter W. Lowell Jr. of Florida; a sister, Barbara Kluck of Hamden; 20 grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his son, Robert W. Lowell Jr.; his sister, Ann Cavanaugh; and his step-daughter, JoAnne Redente.
A memorial services will be held at First Congregational Church, 40 DeForest Street, Watertown, at a date and time to be announced. Hickcox Funeral Home, 195 Main St., Watertown, is assisting the family with arrangements.
